About UsCOMPANY HISTORY Commerce was founded by Clarence (Jack) Greiving in 1945. It began as a welding shop. Jack was the first of three generations to successfully manage Commerce. Jack was originally from Kansas, he moved to Texas in his early twenties. He was a brilliant man and well respected by all his employees. He had a love of all things outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening. Out of his need to keep bait alive came the first agitator our old model #1. It was a small unit that fit into a metal minnow bucket and was powered by an automobile battery. Through the years this line has expanded to 11 current models as well as fish grading boxes, grading baskets, and dip nets. Success came early to Commerce, and Jack expanded the business by designing the first Mino-Saver product in the early 1950's. In 1952, he asked his son Doug Weldon to join his growing business, and Doug soon realized the potential market for metal fabrication. Doug originally conceived and developed the sheet metal and steel fabrication division of Commerce. Doug worked his way up in the ranks to his current position as Chairman. His insight into the future has created great success for Commerce. His strong belief in maintaining excellent business ethics and morals has created long term partnerships with an outstanding group of Customers and Suppliers. Sheryl Weldon began working at Commerce in 1999 and became President of Commerce after spending many years of her career as an Engineering Manager for other Corporations. Sheryl's vision for Commerce's future stands beside her Grandfather and Father. Sheryl is backed by an incredible group of Employees that understand the Corporate goals. Sheryl has maintained a total commitment to innovation, quality and customer service. Kristina Stakes came to Commerce in 1999 and has been a leader in Commerce's operations. Kristina brought her Executive background in Management to Commerce and fit in perfectly with the overall standards and commitments of the Corporation. Kristina is the General Manager and was promoted to Vice President in 2002. Her keen ability to streamline production and oversee the manufacturing operations has created a work environment unequaled by others. We’re dedicated to serving our customers, whether we’re designing a customized metal product or manufacturing large production runs from Customer supplied drawings. Today, we design, manufacture, and ship our Mino-Saver products and fabricated metal products world wide. We also manufacture nearly every component of the Mino-Saver Division in-house. Our facilities are equipped with the a large inventory of metalworking machinery including CNC equipment for cutting, punching and forming all types of metals. Commerce has come a long way since Jack Greiving started with a small welding shop in 1945. We are proud that our history is strong in business ethics and morals and the integration of family values is lived by every employee. Sadly Jack Greiving passed away in 1995 and is still very much missed. Today, Commerce is owned and managed by second and third generation family, and supported by a highly skilled and dedicated staff of employees. Commerce's capabilities include long and short run precision stamping, punching, bending, forming, cutting, shearing, welding of parts, assemblies, and kitting operations. |
